They're all "bbw" according to the UK. They're sizes are MUCH different thant he American sizes. In the UK plus size is 10/12w (American measurements). Although the picture of Whitney Thompson, is one AFTER she competed in Americas Next Top Model;; she got slimmer.
I don't think any of those women should be considered BBWs. I realize that their BBW status is according to model standards but I think the modeleing industry should change their standards. I think its horrible. Young women look at these so called "plus size models" and think wow if they are considered big I must be huge. Thats where a lot of the bad body image starts for young women which could result in eatng disorders. Did any of you read the comments below the pics. There is a lot of ignorance in the world. Why is it that it is politically incorrect to bash homosexuals, ethnic groups, religious groups, the disabled , but it is still ok to bash fat people? I can't wait for the day where intollerence for fat people is no longer acceptable.... I don't think I will live that long.
Ok first and foremost, I don't consider half of these women plus sized. I see most of them as "normal" looking. Like how most women on the street and that we come into contact with look like. Mia Tyler is one of my faves, she is definitely an idol to me. I do agree with others that the bashing of her for "stooping" to doing Celebrity Fit Club was rather harsh considering #1 was on there as well and achieved decent results. I have actually been working out and trying to get healthier. I DO NOT want to be thin, I just want to be healthier and be able to do things without being so out of breath that I feel like I'm going to die haha. I don't think it's a bad thing to want that. Personally I think BBW starts at size 20, anything below that is just cubby or curvy.
