Taboo?

I'm just starting out, so I'm not very much used to all of this attraction placed on women like me.
Growing up in middle America, being "overweight" and "fat" are such ridiculous taboos, it's so much a repellant for most people. Once you find that someone is overweight, it generally shuts off all conversation. Stumbling upon this site has allowed me to realize that what I am is not going to change because someone thinks it's less attractive. And it's great that there are sites that aid to people who are attracted to bigger women.
So if it is such a large special interest group, why is the love of bigger women so taboo?
Why is it that it appears to be "odd" when people say that they are attracted to a bigger women, especially if it's a average sized male?
What started the superiority of skinny girl?

Well, before I met my boyfriend, I was on these sites, and was talking to a guy who seemed nice enough. Then he said, "Yeah, I would even hold your hand in front of my family!" and I thought, "So what?" I mean, what a martyr, right?? Haha, he was a total loser.

But yeah, the embarrassment of dating a fat girl is what keeps guys from doing it. Simple as that. It's sad, but the thought of their families/friends looking down on who they love keeps them from being truly happy, and it's ridiculous. I'm glad I found someone who loves me for me, and isn't afraid of what anyone might think. I don't think he really gives a shit, really.

I've gone on many dating sites and as I have found people that are potentially my type, the end up being just as shallow or superficial as a guy that will only date super thin models. You would think a guy that is into fat girls WOULDN'T be superficial, but when he starts saying you should gain more weight, it would turn me on if I could feed you and see you get fatter and fatter, or i'd be upset if you lost weight etc etc.. its like wtf. So basically you like me because of my body? Now I know how the models feel lol.

I wish I could find some one that genuinely loves my curves but isnt out to date me just to make me fatter!!!! *sigh*

I'm not used to having attention either and I am so sick and tired of being put into a stereotype just because I'm fat. People think if your fat, it's gonna be wrong to be attracted to you and thats so messed up!! It's so good to hear someone say I'm not going to change because someone thinks I'm less attractive. In all honesty, your beautiful :-) I don't think you should change at all!

It's so odd, in my normal day, I'm not skinny enough and then on this site, sometimes I'm not big enough!

Like you said, cynicole, I want someone who will give me a chance. Not just like me because I'm bigger. Like...it may make me sound really odd, but I don't want someone to write me off because I'm fat, but in that same thread, I don't want someone to like me just because they get off to fat girls, to put it bluntly.

anyway, I agree with all of you. I've been on this site for a few days, and it still astounds me that there are so many bbw's and bbw lovers (none from my country though, damnit, lol). The feeding fetishes creep me out immensly too.... feeding someone so they could get fatter??? euhm..odd, is what I'm thinking. but hey, to each their own.
